Is it possible to live above sin? Why is it that after all I have tried I still fall into sin? Dear brethren, it is possible to live above sin and that by your efforts alone you cant live above sin.
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the
lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against
the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to
the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18 But
if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Gal 5:16-18 (KJV)
This
challenge of living above sin is one of the toughest fight of Christians such
that many have given up. The toughness is become you are dealing with a part
that you got from your parents; the flesh. When you became born-again, only
your spirit which was dead due to the loss of connection to God that came alive
in Christ. Your flesh was not changed or transformed, your mentality was not
transformed so there tend to be an internal battle between two parts of you,
your recreated spirit and your sinful flesh with your mind the decision maker
in the centre. What a war to win.
The
bible did not say, pray to God to help you not to sin or to stop you from sin
but it says “… live by the spirit…”, to live above sin is only attainable when
you live by the Spirit.
To
live by the Spirit is to do what the Holy Spirit who is in you says i.e. to
keep in step with the Spirit. Your will without the strength of the word is
powerless against sin. Christ has called us and has redeemed us from sin and
death, live above sin.
